Goal of the 10-10-10 Campaign
In celebration of 10 years of serving the Sarcoma Community we are looking for 10 thousand new friends to donate a minimum of 10 dollars to the Sarcoma Alliance. The sunflower on the right symbolizes our campaign. It consists of 10 thousand tiles. Each time a friend donates $10 or more, we turn one of the tiles from black-and-white to color.
How the Sarcoma Alliance Helps
The funds raised go to a most worthy cause. The Sarcoma Alliance is the only group whose sole purpose is to support the needs of those dealing with sarcoma. Our goal is to provide guidance, education and support about this very rare form of cancer. This is done through our website where we offer the most comprehensive information through a Peer to Peer program, discussion board, blogs, and links to critical information about sarcoma.

In addition, we offer an assistance fund to help those in need seek out a second opinion. Too often physicians don't know enough about sarcoma and the resulting diagnosis and treatment can be wrong and extreme. For example, amputation is often recommended as a course of action when it may not be necessary. Through the assistance fund we offer grants to help patients and families seek out expert advice and find the best path to the right treatment.
What Has Been Accomplished to Date
Over the past 10 years, the Sarcoma Alliance has laid the foundation to help those in need. The website is a tremendous source of information about this little known form of cancer. The Peer-to-Peer network now has 650 members from 46 States and 16 countries. There are bi-weekly online chats where information is shared and guidance offered. The Sarcoma Alliance has also provided more than 200 financial grants totaling well in excess of one hundred thousand dollars to patients seeking a second opinion with a sarcoma specialist.
People Who Have Received Assistance
"As the parents of a teen diagnosed with sarcoma, we wanted to make the very best medical decisions for our son, but when we received conflicting opinions about his care my husband and I felt so helpless. This was our child's life, and we didn't know who to trust. Ultimately, we chose to seek out a synovial sarcoma specialist whose practice focused on teens and young adults. While our insurance company wouldn't cover our visit to Dana Farber in Boston, there was no question that this was what we needed to give us peace of mind-and that's exactly what we got. Thanks to our visit with Doctor Albritton, we felt that Drake's prognosis was good enough to forgo chemotherapy and finally move on with our lives. The trip to Boston also enabled us to visit Harvard and MIT and dream about a future where anything was possible. We are so grateful to the Sarcoma Alliance, not only for the grant that helped to cover the costs of our visit, but also for all the information and support we received on the Web site. You were definitely a source of hope during an extremely difficult time."
How We Track Progress on the Campaign
When you donate $10 or more, we add a color tile to the sunflower with your name associated with it. Then a site visitor can scroll their cursor over your tile and your name will be displayed. You may donate more than once. Once we achieve our goal of 10 thousand new friends who have donated a minimum of 10 dollars, the image will be completely in color!
Who Has Joined
Pass your cursor over the filled-in portion of the sunflower to see who has joined the campaign. You can also view new friends on our Causes Page on Facebook.
